After recently reading Pete Bowyer’s www.paraglide.com.au site in full I am starting to come around to see that paragliding would be a far superior way to get in the air. I Intend to take a lesson some time over winter this year in the hope of being a fully fledged punter by the time next season rolls around. Woohoo!!!

So what prompted this decision? Fuel prices for one. Removing the roof racks from the car will substantially increase the number of glass offs I can afford to catch out at Spring Hill. Conservatively, I estimate that I will be able to save $3 a year with the increased aerodynamics of our vehicle. Not to mention the savings made from not having those long retrieves associated with hang gliding – with paragliders, such retrieves are simply not required. Awesome!

Floppies are toppies!

This is great news! Just when i thought we couldn’t possibly convert a hetrosexual to try some thing a little strange and embarassing, One of the cuttest guys in town joins the the club. Ah and speaking of clubs
any other hang gliders wanting to go floppy, i have a fantastic Club in Oxford St. Sydney that you recieve free entry
and special show bag with lots goodies in it to amuse yourself and new found friends in the parra gliding community.
So welcome Trent, and we cant wait to see you at the next glass off. And btw the front road up spring is a little bumpy so ill show you how to drive the dirt track up the back way.

I’ve been convinced to switch too! I’m sick of those friggin’ hours spent riggin’ up and riggin’ down. Those floppies might look a bit soft but some of them now fly as fast as many hangies. Its the way to go!

I soon will be able to skoot out to the Lake in the arvo’s and fly my floppy for 30mins or so while the plumbers are still fiddling- I can land, pack up and have sunk my first few beers before the hangies have even launched! Gone are the bad old days for sure. No more worrying about retrieves either I’ll just hitch back…its the way to go!

I’m not going to become a plumbasauraus!

  3. Red Baron

Red Baron has just read the FAQ and Advice section of this Australian Paragliding Centre website, and wow, it’s impressive…

The section named “What is the difference between a paraglider and a hang glider?” is classic and really should be re-named something like: “I spread disinformation about hang gliding”….
